The Imam Bukhari Mosque, currently operating under the Presidency of Religious Affairs, is located in the Indian Orchard neighborhood of Springfield, Massachusetts' third-largest city. The mosque was founded in the early 2000s by a Turkish community, primarily employed in the food industry, who migrated to the area and settled there. The early settlers sought a center to fulfill their religious duties and provide religious and cultural education to their children. To this end, they purchased a church and its entire facility, which had been sold by the Catholic community in 2006 and used as housing and school classrooms. \u00a0<\/p>

Because the purchased church was deemed unsuitable for Islamic worship, the building underwent rapid restoration, necessary additions were made to make it suitable for use as a mosque, and finally, after landscaping and obtaining permission from the relevant authorities, it was partially ready for use in 2007. The mosque was named "Imam Bukhari Mosque" after the will of one of the oldest citizens of the Turkish community, who had contributed greatly to its acquisition and passed away shortly afterward. \u00a0<\/p>

Renovation work continued inside the mosque and in the residences, and it was finally fully operational in 2010. Since the mosque was ready for worship and lacked a religious official to provide religious services, the Turkish community submitted a formal application to the Religious Affairs Attach\u00e9 of the Presidency of Religious Affairs in New York City that same year to appoint a religious official to the mosque. The application was quickly reviewed by the attach\u00e9, and the first religious official was appointed, thus commencing religious services at the mosque. The Presidency of Religious Affairs appointed new religious officials to replace those whose duties had expired, ensuring the continuity of services provided at the mosque. \u00a0<\/p>

In addition to providing religious services, our children are regularly taught religious and national values through weekend school programs at the mosque center to teach and preserve their religion, language, and identity. \u00a0<\/p>

Although the mosque was founded by the Turkish community, it currently serves Muslims from many different Islamic countries. They are just as committed to the mosque as the Turkish community and contribute financially when necessary to meet its needs. The mosque's congregation has been growing daily thanks to the recent influx of Muslims from around the world. \u00a0<\/p>

Although the mosque was purchased and made ready for service by the Turkish community living in this region, the Presidency of Religious Affairs has always been on the side of the Turkish community since the purchase of the mosque and has provided all kinds of support when necessary. \u00a0<\/p>
