The Selimiye Mosque is an important religious and cultural center located in Burlington, New Jersey, United States. The history of the mosque reflects the presence and integration process of the Turkish community living in and around Burlington, America.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Establishment and Financing of the Mosque<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

It is located at 203 Fountain Ave., Burlington. The building, which served as a church, was purchased for cash and converted into a mosque. It opened for worship in 1988 as the Selimiye Mosque. The mosque's first association president was Alaaddin G\u00fcng\u00f6r. The Presidency of Religious Affairs first appointed an official to the Selimiye Mosque in 1995.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Architectural and Physical Structure<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The mosque building is designed as a two-story structure, with a capacity of 200 people on the upper floor and 120 on the lower floor. Our mosque sits on approximately 2 acres of land and has a 1,700-square-foot indoor area. The lower floor of the mosque houses a kitchen, which is used primarily for communal iftar meals and Mawlid celebrations during Ramadan. The mosque is owned by the mosque association and is also a member of TARF. The mosque's annex houses a 48-space asphalt parking lot, two restrooms, and a washing area.<\/p>

Our mosque offers classes during winter weekends and summer holidays. Approximately 100 students attend these classes. Additionally, every Friday evening, our mosque's religious staff hosts a special talk for adult women. A prayer meeting is also held every Sunday morning. After morning prayers, we offer a Hadith class, breakfast, and then a Quranic lesson.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
