Diyanet Austin Center, established in 2023 with the initiatives of the Turkish community living in and around Austin and with the support of the Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, is a multifaceted living space centered around a mosque, focusing on worship, art, cultural activities, and business.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Austin, one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States, is a prominent center for commerce, particularly technology. The city's recent development and high potential for future growth ensure that its population represents a diverse demographic, representing a diverse range of nationalities, religions, and cultural backgrounds. Established to meet the religious, sociocultural, and business needs of the city's recently growing Turkish population, the center was established by local Turks with the support of the Presidency of Religious Affairs. The center's needs are met through donations from businesspeople, tradespeople, academics, and residents of various professions. The center's building is not owned by the association; services are provided through monthly rental payments.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Architectural and Physical Structure<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The center's main building is a two-story commercial building, built on a 3,000-square-meter site, with a large portion of the first floor serving as a mosque. The first floor houses a multi-purpose hall, a kitchen, a storage area, two restrooms, and an entrance hall. The second floor, accessed by a staircase used as a pulpit within the mosque, houses three multi-purpose halls. One of these multi-purpose halls is a meeting hall for various meetings, including board meetings. The second contains a library, television, and an oriental corner. The third is a multi-purpose hall furnished primarily for classroom use. The center's courtyard contains a Turkish barbershop, a courtyard storage area, a playground, barbecue and picnic areas, and a garden. There is also parking for 40 vehicles in both the inner and outer courtyards.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Prayers, Religious Talks, Islamic School for Children and Cultural Activities<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Every Friday at the center, between 10:00 and 12:00, a volunteer from the women's community organizes a conversation for women. On Friday, between 19:00 and 21:00, a volunteer from the men's community organizes a conversation for men. The men's conversations are held in Turkish and English, depending on the participant profile. Friday prayers, as well as evening and night prayers, are held at the center every week. Every Saturday, between 10:00 and 14:00, an Islamic school is held for two groups: up to and over 8 years old, offering Quran courses, Islamic history, religious culture, and moral knowledge. Since the center's opening, breakfast programs have been held regularly every two weeks, with over 100 participants.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

During Ramadan, iftar meals were served at the center every Friday and Saturday. Attendance at these iftars exceeded 200 each time. Tarawih prayers were also held on Fridays and Saturdays, along with the evening and night prayers. A special program was organized for Laylat al-Qadr. Following the Eid prayer on the day of Eid, Eid greetings, breakfast, and entertainment activities for children were organized. Preparations for the Eid began with the morning prayer and continued until the evening of the same day.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
