The South Delaware Diyanet Mosque was established to meet the spiritual needs of the Muslim community in Delaware. It was first opened in November 2018 as the Georgetown Diyanet Mosque, located in Georgetown.
The mosque and its outbuildings were sold in March 2024, and a new location was leased in the Ellendale area and opened for worship as the South Delaware Diyanet Mosque. The mosque was founded through the initiative of approximately 50 Turkish families living in the area.
Structure and Areas of the Mosque
- Two-story building:
- Upper floor: Areas where both men and women can pray. Children's lessons are also available. There are three sinks and a place for ablution.
- Lower floor: Kitchen, dining hall, and separate areas for men and women to meet and engage in activities. There are two sinks and ablution facilities for men and two for women.
- External area:
- It is a large area and there is enough space for parking.
- There are football, handball, basketball and playground areas for children.
The mosque is suitable for both worship and social and cultural activities.
Religious and Social Activities
- Special programs are organized for daily prayers and religious days.
- During Ramadan, iftar meals are provided by the community and philanthropists.
- Chat programs are made for women and men.
- Various social events and meetings are organized to strengthen the ties between Muslims.

The mosque continues to provide both religious and social guidance through religious officials appointed by the Presidency of Religious Affairs.

Since its founding, the South Delaware Diyanet Mosque has made a significant contribution to the region's Muslim community, both through worship, education, and social activities. The mosque's structure and facilities continue to meet the community's spiritual, educational, and social needs.
