From Tradition to the Future…

TARF Silicon Valley ErtuÄŸrul Gazi Mosque

The founding journey of the Diyanet Silicon Valley ErtuÄŸrul Gazi Mosque began with the founding of the Turkish-American Religious Foundation (TARF) in 1993. This seed germinated over many years, and its development gained momentum with the establishment of the TARF-Silicon Valley branch in 2015. In 2016, Diyanet Silicon Valley opened its first masjid in a temporary building in Burlingame. However, problems with official permits were encountered, and the masjid was forced to close in 2018.

The search for a property suitable for the masjid then began. After a four-year search, a church in Redwood City was purchased in 2022 through the generous support of our community. After two and a half years of intensive work, the masjid's renovation was completed, and the Diyanet Silicon Valley (ErtuÄŸrul Gazi Mosque) officially opened for worship in January 2025.

Its mission since the first day of its establishment:

  • Islam is a language that is open to people of all ages, races, colors, genders and beliefs.

to explain and teach in this way,

  • To provide social services to those in need and
  • Living and keeping alive the Turkish-Islamic culture

Bahadır Ertaş, Süleyman Yeşilyurt, Ergün Gürsül, Oğuz Olcay and Serhat Nazım Avcı served as the presidents of the association and Mahmut Alpaydın, Hasan Mollaoğlu and Fatih Güleç served as religious officials at the Diyanet Silicon Valley mosque.

The founding journey of the Diyanet Silicon Valley Ertugrul Gazi Masjid began in 1993 with the establishment of the Turkish-American Religious Foundation (TARF). For many years, this seed grew slowly, and in 2015, with the founding of TARF's Silicon Valley branch, the process accelerated. In 2016, Diyanet Sil- icon Valley opened its first mosque temporarily in a building in Burlingame. How ever, due to issues with official permits, the mosque had to be closed in 2018.

This led to the beginning of a search for a property that could be purchased and converted into a permanent mosque. After a long four-year search, a church located in Redwood City was purchased in 2022 thanks to the unity and generosity of our devoted community. Following 2.5 years of extensive renovation work, the mosque's restoration was completed, and Diyanet Silicon Valley (Ertugrul Gazi Masjid) was officially opened for worship in January 2025.

Since its inception, the mission of Diyanet Silicon Valley Ertugrul Gazi Masjid has been:
