Ahiska Turkish-American Community Center Mosque

The Osman Gazi Mosque is located in Dayton, Ohio, USA. Dayton is one of the cities with a large population of the Meskhetian Turkish community. The Meskhetian Turkish community founded the Osman Gazi Mosque Association in 2014 with the goal of building a mosque to preserve their identity and culture while practicing their religion. The association, led by retired mufti Celal Åžahin Hoca, commissioned by the Religious Services Counselor of the Turkish Embassy in Washington, D.C., purchased a building located in the city center that previously served as a Funeral Home and an adjacent detached house on November 14, 2014. Restoration work began on this building to facilitate the mosque's services. While the restoration work was ongoing, the association also purchased a three-story building opposite the mosque, formerly a Catholic school, containing classrooms, a gym, and a cafeteria, and an adjacent detached house. Thus, the restoration work on these buildings, which were planned as Osman Gazi Mosque, Osman Gazi Madrasa and two imam houses, was completed and the Osman Gazi Mosque and Madrasa was officially opened in April 2018.
Â
The Osman Gazi Mosque, which has a capacity of 450 people, offers five daily congregational prayers. On certain days of the week, especially before the Isha prayer, a religious talk is held to enhance the congregation's religious knowledge. At the Osman Gazi Madrasa, students are offered Quran and religious studies classes on Saturdays and Sundays. Wrestling courses are also held in the madrasa's gymnasium on certain days of the week.
Â
As a result, the Osman Gazi Mosque and Madrasa has an important role in contributing to the unity and solidarity of the Ahiska Turkish Community living in the state of Ohio in the United States and in preserving their religious and national values.
