West Springfield is a city in Hampden County, Massachusetts. Its founding dates back to 1635. According to 2023 population estimates, the city has 28,424 residents. 0.2% of the population is Muslim. The Muslim population is diverse. There are approximately 100 Meskhetian families and 100 Turkish families in and around the city.

Meskhetian Turks living in the city settled here after seeking asylum in the United States from the Krosnodar region of Russia after 2003.

The West Springfield Ahıska Mosque, previously a Russian-Orthodox church, was purchased in 2015 by Ahıska Turks at the request of Turkish government officials in the United States and was turned over to the Ahıska Turks living there for use as a mosque and cultural center. The building and the land on which it stands are owned by the Presidency of Religious Affairs. Currently, it operates as the Ahıska Turkish-American Community Center, with its mosque, conference hall, and residential housing at 407 Park Street in West Springfield.

Shortly after the building was rezoned as a mosque, the Presidency of Religious Affairs appointed Osman Çalkaya as the mosque's first official. Upon his return to Türkiye in 2020, Kanuni Yaşaroğlu was appointed imam-hatip in 2021, and he remains active in his duties.

After Mehdi Osmanlı, the first chairman of the board, Bahtiyar Agayev took over the chairmanship. The current chairman is Alikhan Lachinov.

Although there are a small number of non-Turkish congregations, almost all of our congregation is Turkish.

Our mosque is especially busy and full during Ramadan, religious holidays, and Fridays. While there's a slight decrease in attendance with the arrival of summer and vacation, our mosque remains active and full throughout the rest of the year, with weekly religious talks and basic religious instruction courses for young people and children.
