Brooklyn Eyup Sultan Mosque (Brooklyn, NY)

Construction of the Eyüp Sultan Mosque, located at 2812 Brighton 3rd St., Brooklyn, NY 11235, was initiated by the Turkish community living in Brooklyn. The Presidency of Religious Affairs later took over the project, and construction began in 2003 and was completed in 2010.
The Eyüp Sultan Mosque is a five-story cultural center, each 400 m² tall, built on a 600 m² site. It opened for worship on the last Friday of Ramadan, September 3, 2010. Construction cost approximately $3 million.
The mosque has a spacious prayer area that can accommodate more than 800 people praying simultaneously. It also includes classrooms where children can learn about our religion, language, and national culture, a kitchen and dining hall, lodging and guesthouses, a conference hall, and a library.
The daily prayer congregation size ranges from 20 to 30 people. On Fridays, the congregation numbers reach 300 to 500. While the majority of the congregation consists of Turkish citizens, our mosque is also visited by brothers and sisters from the Turkic Republics and other Muslim nations.
The mosque's multipurpose hall is used by both the Turkish community and other Muslim nations for various religious and social events. Our imams, appointed by the Presidency of Religious Affairs for five-year terms, teach religious knowledge, Islamic ethics, and the Quran to students on weekends throughout the year. Quran classes are also held for both men and women.
Karate courses are held regularly on weekdays and weekends in the karate hall on the ground floor of the mosque.
