Louisville Ahiskan Turkish Community Mosque (Louisville/Kentucky)

The Meskhetian Turkish community in Louisville, Kentucky, is a significant part of the city. Founded in 2005, our community focuses on cultural preservation and creating a supportive environment for Turkish families living in the state. These efforts culminated in the establishment of our community center in 2012. Our community is comprised of Turkish immigrants from the Meskhetian region of Georgia (historically known as Meskhetian). Many faced hardship and forced migration before finding refuge in the United States. Driven by a love for their homeland and a determination to preserve their culture, many Meskhetian Turkish families settled in Louisville in 2005, seeking a welcoming environment.
After years of planning, we established the Turkish Community Center of Kentucky in 2012, which serves as the heart of our community. Along with the founding of our association, we purchased the mosque we currently use. We began organizing religious activities, educational programs, cultural events, and social gatherings. In 2016, our activities reached a broader community when President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan, visited our center. Our commitment to preserving Turkish culture is evident in our weekend school, which serves more than 80 students per week. This program focuses on Turkish language, history, and Islamic teachings, encouraging the younger generation.
