Paterson United Islamic Center (Paterson, NJ)

The United Islamic Center, also known as the Grand Mosque, was established by the Karachay people in the 1970s. Initially a modest gathering place for prayer and community connection, it has evolved into a center for worship, education, and social services. Over the years, the Grand Mosque has become a place where people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds come together in unity under the shared values of Islam.
Today, the Grand Mosque serves the religious, educational, and social needs of the local Muslim community. In addition to separate prayer areas for men and women, the mosque also houses a library, dining hall, and classrooms. The dining hall serves as a meeting place for social events, iftar dinners, and community activities, while the classrooms host various youth programs, including our Islamic Sunday School.
In addition, we offer weekend Quran courses, host religious festivals and religious festivals, provide iftar meals during Ramadan, and also offer wedding and funeral services. While the Grand Mosque is home to a predominantly Karachay community in New Jersey, it also serves Muslims of all nationalities, especially our Turkish brothers and sisters.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to our mission of serving the spiritual, educational, and social needs of our congregation and the broader community.
