The Houston Diyanet Mosque is the first mosque opened by the Turkish American Religious Foundation in Houston, the largest city in the state of Texas.

In 2019, under the leadership of Associate Professor Bilal Baş, appointed Houston Religious Services Attaché, research began for a mosque in Houston that would meet the religious and cultural needs of the rapidly growing Turkish population. Ultimately, due to financial constraints, the construction of a mosque or the purchase of a site for it proved impossible.

Houston philanthropist Celalettin Demir donated one of his homes to the TARF Houston association, free of charge, for a limited time to be used as a mosque. After extensive repairs and renovations, the house was converted into a mosque.

The opening ceremony of the Houston Diyanet Mosque held in October 2022 was attended by Vice President of Religious Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selim Argun, Houston Consul General Serhad Varli, Religious Services Counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Washington Prof. Dr. Bilal Kuşpinar, Religious Services Attaché at the Consulate General in Houston Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilal Bas, leaders of Muslim communities, and Turkish citizens.

In addition to daily prayers, the mosque also provides community-needed services such as marriages, conversions, and funerals. Weekends at the mosque include Quranic, religious studies, and Turkish lessons for children, and religious and cultural lectures and talks for both men and women. The Houston Diyanet Mosque quickly became a meeting place for the region's Turkish Muslim population.
